April Meeting
April Group was nice! Quite a bit of Show and Tell... our 2nd Half Square Triangle Exchange month... fun!
DON'T FORGET: Our May group meeting is a week early because of Memorial Day - May 18th! (Hey, isn't that Mt. St. Helens Day?)

Our Verse from Linda - or really from God :-)
Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Also, we discussed our next Global Outreach Partner (missionary) quilt project, and decided we should do one for Dan & Teresa Heath to celebrate with them their completion of the New Testament translation. We'll decide a pattern/block we can all work on, and present it at next group.
Group Projects
Barb is going to Astorga Spain to teach quilting with Cathy Crawford. They're doing a hexi project, and Barb would like our help - providing fun fabric, and making kits. We'll do a Friendship Quilting Day project either in May 16 or June 13, and I'll let you know what you can bring when we get more details!Also, we discussed our next Global Outreach Partner (missionary) quilt project, and decided we should do one for Dan & Teresa Heath to celebrate with them their completion of the New Testament translation. February Group - and the HST Exchange kickoff!
We had a little fun at last quilt group! And kicked off the HST Exchange! Everyone there got instructions for the exchange and at least 4 sheets to make - which I know a bunch of you have already burned through! :-) Nice!
Here's a link to the instructions, if you weren't there. However, please get papers from me, as we are printing them out at church so they're all identical!

January Update and a new Exchange!
If you weren't at the January meeting, we've decided we will do a Half Square Triangle (HST) Exchange. Edyta Sitar has a wonderful video about doing triangle exchanges, and there are so many things you can do with triangles! We'll make some each month, exchange them with each other, and come up with marvelous designs! We passed around this document with lots of HST ideas! Next meeting (February 23rd) we'll hand out directions, and papers we'll print in house, so we're all working with the same thing! (Not Edyta's - they're too expensive.)
Our meeting was fun and filled with excitement for the upcoming Superbowl - too bad it didn't turn out like we wanted. :-( But Terry inspired us all with a quilt she made for her physical therapist - hopefully quilting it doesn't send her back to the therapist! It was almost done at group, and she sent a pic of it done! Nice work - and way to improvise!
We also had lots of other Show and Tell!

July Meeting on the Patio!
Due to unforseen circumstances, we had quilt group meeting on the patio! Fun for a change!
Linda shared a verse: John 10:10 (which we usually only quote the last half) "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have live and have it abundantly." Good reminder to be aware of what the thief is up to!
NEXT QUILT GROUP: Our next meeting will be a salad or dessert potluck & "stash clean out sale" at Rainbow Lodge in North Bend where Linda & Tim live/manage. Here are the directions from their website:
From Seattle and the Eastside
Take I-90 eastbound to exit #32 (436th St).
Turn left and take 436th back over I-90, until it dead ends at North Bend Way.
Turn left, then take the first right - Mt. Si Road.
Stay on Mt Si Road for 3 miles - Look for the Rainbow Lodge sign on your left.
Diana finished her Craftsy Block of the Month! Quilt as you go style... and wore matching flip flops!

March Meeting
We had a fun time at quilt group!
Linda shared a verse with us.
Psalm 57:7-11
New International Version (NIV)
7 My heart, O God, is steadfast,
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.
8 Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.
8 Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
9 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.
let your glory be over all the earth.

Comfort Quilts
- There is a clothing drop bin outside our Quilt Room door for Hearts and Home - a Christian thrift store in Bellevue.
- Baby quilt status - We've got a dedication coming up soon. Debbie has several quilts, and we added more to the stash tonight!
Missionary Quilts
We discussed the status of the Ziska's quilt. Also whether they all need to be made "together" or if individuals could make a quilt and we pray for it and send it on it's way. The only disadvantage to an individual making it is that we don't have the prayer time with it (I like to pray as I make blocks for the quilt). If we knew someone was working on one, we could "draw" the next missionary name and be praying while it's being made elsewhere!
Friendship Quilting Day will be 4/12 - and we'll work on their quilt that day. I've got a bunch of blocks cut out... just need assembled.

We also discussed keeping on making the Sugar Cubes blocks (like we're making for the Ziskas), but also, making nine patches out of 2.5" pieces as you have time or have squares. We'll have a nine-patch quilt in no time if we all make one a day! The block is made of 2.5" pieces... ending up measuring 6.5" - which comes out to 6" when finished. Have fun!
Quilts for Oso
Layers of Hope Quilting 911 is coordinating quilts to take to Oso victim families and to Responders. They need the first batch by April 19th. One of the drop points is in Burien at a knitting store (they take knitting and crocheting too), which I'm willing to deliver to. Just get me anything you may have very soon! We decided to send the blue and yellow string quilt? I'm going to send my Hawaiian. Kathy offered her pea pod kids' quilt. Their info is at: Layersofhopequilting911.blogspot.com I imagine with the good response they've had so far, that they'll need to make a second delivery.
We had two sets of Show and Tell: UFO's and regular Show and Tell.
Next month's UFO is # 1!

February Group Meeting was Fun!
We had a good tim Monday night! Linda shared with us
We brought in our blocks for the Ziska quilt. We have 20 blocks so far. We decided that 6x8 was too small, so for the sake of the pattern we're going to make it 8x10 - bring your blocks to the March group meeting! Here's the general idea:
Friendship Quilting Day was voted on for March, and officially moved to March 15th (instead of March 8th), which is totally appropriate, as March 15th is National Quilting Day!!
Val showed us how to do a quick pair of 9-patches! Don't know if I can type it up here... but it was quick and easy! Made 2 blocks... one with the darks on the outside, and one with them on the inside.
Romans 15:13 - May the God of hope fill you
with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,
so that you may overflow with hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.

2014 UFO Challenge!
Several of us are going to choose 10 unfinished quilts that we'd like to get done this year. We've chosen and numbered them 1-10, and every month we'll draw a number and work on that numbered UFO! "Finished" means whatever you'd like it to mean. It can mean completely done and labeled, or work on one Block of the Month per month that you're behind on... or really anything goes! Not really just a bunch of rules... just trying to motivate each other and cheer each other on! Our number to work on this month:
2!
You can do it!
Here are the pics of our Show and Tell... or you can click on the pics and see them bigger in Flickr.
