January Meeting!

Hi all! Many of you weren't able to come on Monday night, and many of us wanted some of the info we discussed written down. So here are a few of the things we talked about!

Lisa Ordering
Lisa Powell will be ordering from Checker soon (really soon), so if you need any notions/supplies, let her know and she can add it to her order. You can look to see if they have items at http://checkerdist.com/.

Anne is having a baby!
For those of you that may not know, Anne Rogers is having a baby - she's due June 14th! Congrats!

Link to Basket Pattern
I made a few baskets, and brought one to show.  They're easy and gave me a chance to use some of my scraps! And best of all, the pattern was free online! Here a link to it: http://ayumills.blogspot.com/2008/05/tutorial-fabric-basket.html

Sharon Schamber
Val was telling us that Sharon Schamber, an amazing award winning quilter, has an informative website. While part of this site is for money, she does have some video and other things on there for free! Here's the link: http://sharonschambernetwork.com/

Upcoming Dates
Here are some of the upcoming dates relevant to us quilters:
January FQD (Friendship Quilting Day): 1/31 (this Saturday)
February FQD: 2/21
February Group: 2/23
Sew Expo: 2/26-3/1
March FQD: 3/21 (also National Quilting Day!)
March Group: 3/30
Shop Hop: 6/24-28

Toad in Puddle
Terry showed us a block she's working on... and got off the Internet herself! It's called "Toad in a Puddle" and here's what it looks like.

Val had a death in her sewing machine family
If anyone has a Juki they'd like to sell, Val Davis would be interested in buying it. You can email her at vgal@earthlink.net.

Baby Quilts Update
The church is having a Family Service on February 18th, which includes baptisms (for adults) and baby dedications. Debbie has enough quilts for this dedication, but this will leave her with no boy quilts, and 1 or 2 girl quilts. Thanks for being so faithful in making lovely quilts for the babies!

Well, that's about it... enough, I know! Have a lovely week!

August Group Recap

Just a reminder that retreat is coming up September 25-28th. Let me know if you'd like to come!

There was just a handful of us at the August meeting. Terry brought the "fabric" she made for a jacket she's working on...cute! I'm sure it'll be even cuter when it fits better. :-)

August Meeting

Just to let you know, our August meeting is coming up on Monday the 25th! And Friendship Quilting Day is August 23rd.

We had a small group in July...with just a couple of pictures:

Gail shared her wall hanging...that was a little smaller than anticipated! :-) And look at that UFO basket...getting fuller!
Debbie had a cute baby train quilt that she did some cute free motion quilting on:
I finally got this strippy quilt done (UFO) ...thanks to the generous help of Kathy (quilting) and Ginger (hand stitching down the binding!)! Thanks ladies!

See you soon! Betsy

Good Tuesday Morning

Hello ladies -

I'm sitting at work, dreaming of working on my quilt! I've been working on a paper-pieced wall-hanging. I'm using batiks and it has a scrappy look. Even Ryan (my almost 15 yo) likes it.

I also got back two quilts from Lisa that I need to bind, my turquoise "coffee" quilt and my pink & green cherries quilt. Both of those will count as finished UFO's if I can get them bound.

Needless to say my quilt room is calling me. I have a long car drive coming up this weekend, maybe I can get the bindings sewn on so I can tack them down in the car?!

I'd love to hear what everyone else is working on...

Vickie update from Sisters!

Hello from Sisters!  Betsy and I are watching a Spencer Tracy & Katherine Hepburn movie, but we're not even sure what the title is...

I just got an update from Vickie Isley that her website is up for her quilt shop in North Carolina.  She has her Christmas fabric on it so far, with the hopes of getting the rest of the 2,000 bolts up soon.

Happy Shopping

Sue

we'll post about the quilt show tomorrow (if we still have any energy!!!)

P.S. 7/18 - Here is Betsy's post about the show.

First Post!

I thought I'd try this blog format - much easier posting than the website! We'll see how it goes! I tried to link to all the original info on the right hand side. Also, you all can add comments if you'd like! That's kinda fun!

We had fun at last group - Diana should win a prize for most UFO quilts completed in a month! What a star! We had fun making bowls with Barb! I got so involved in making one that I totally neglected to take any pictures of us doing it!

Next Friendship Quilting Day is Saturday, July 19th, and next group meeting is Monday, July 28th. No, your rows aren't due, but we'll have the big "reveal" at the August meeting - plan to be there - it should be fun!!

More about this blog soon!
